Activity Guidelines

Board Game Night

Objective Introduce group members to play various board games ranging from quick and simple games like Blank Slate, Fuzzy Logic, Hues and Cues, Tapple, Sushi. Go to strategic games like Ticket to Ride, Catan, Trekking the World, Wavelength, Rummikub, etc. to name a few. The main purpose is to expose group members to different board games so they can decide if this is an interesting hobby for them.
Plan Game nights to be hosted monthly in small and large group settings. Small groups can be hosted at homes on a rotational basis. Larger groups to be hosted at clubhouse, park or other venues if available. In large group settings, multiple tables will be set up and each group at a table will be playing a different game. Rules to play the game will be explained and help will be provided during the games as well. Some of the games can be played by 4-6 people and some games can be played by 10-20 people. We have wide selection of games available and you are welcome to bring your own games as well.

  • Playing is exercise for your brain. Playing stimulates brain areas that are responsible for memory formation and complex thought processes for all ages. Engaging in play assists in practicing essential cognitive skills, such as decision making, higher level strategic thinking, and problem solving.
  • Playing board games is great for reducing stress and makes for laughter. A side effect of board game playing is laughter. Also, laughing and having a good time in general helps to decrease stress.
  • Playing board games creates more happiness. Playing board games triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural “feel-good” chemicals. “Happy hormones” have the power to improve conscious and unconscious mind functions, leaving a person feeling cheerful, compassionate, and ultimately content.

Bollywood Dancing

Objective To create a joyful space where members can express themselves and stay active.
Plan Five minutes warmup with rhythmic stretching, 50 minutes of choreographed routines to the latest Bollywood hits, 5 minutes cool down.
Key Benefits Body workout, improved cardio, coordination, flexibility, and stress relief.

Meals No meals needed. Participants will bring their own water bottle and wear comfortable clothes.

Day Trip

Objective
  • Encourages social connections. Create opportunities for senior gatherings to socialize, build friendships and reduce feelings of loneliness. Build knowledge and learn to educate about places visited.
  • Promote well-being and joy. Offer a relaxed enjoyable outing that supports mental and physical health.
  • Provide safe and accessible travel. To ensure a well-planned, comfortable and suitable trip for senior mobility and energy level. Light walking.
  • Stimulate the mind and curiosity.
  • Create meaningful memories. Give seniors an activity to look forward to and build memories to share.

Plan Organized Day trip. Transportation and logistics by train, bus or car.

Fun Trivia and Game Night

Objective To keep our minds active, healthy, engaged and cheerful via interesting, stimulating and fun games played as group activities.
Plan
  • The game events could be organized as a part of larger events such as picnics or holiday parties.
  • We could organize a special game night with activities that promote group fun, unity and participation.
  • Depending on the interest and availability of people, we could organize more periodic game nights so participants can continue to stay in touch and avoid isolation and loneliness. That way people can maintain a healthy cheerful mind and positive attitude.

Objective Awareness on healthy eating with a balanced diet which supports heart health, bone health and can be energizing.

Health: Fit For Life

Objective provide accessible, evidence-based medical education that supports healthy aging, preventive care, and informed health decisions for adults aged 50+. The program also aims to foster social connection and community in a comfortable, respectful environment.
Plan

Host educational events featuring qualified healthcare professionals (physicians, therapists, dietitians, psychologists, etc.)

Each session includes:

  • 30 to 40 minutes medical talk
  • Moderated Q&A/discussion
  • Social time around a shared meal
  • Topics focus on health issues relevant to midlife and older adults (e.g., heart health, bone health, menopause, brain health, mobility, nutrition, mental well-being).
  • Maintain a non-commercial, educational focus.

Mystic Rhythm, Movements & Harmony

Objective East Asian practice, that gets you out of the house and moving your body. It’s a very light and slow movement that requires you to stand in one place with slow arm and leg control. It improves balance, builds strength and flexibility, supports heart health and decreases chronic pain.
Plan
  • Sign up at least 2 days before the date of class.
  • Arrive 5 minutes before class begins in comfortable clothing, and shoes - be mindful of the weather, we will be outside.
  • Bring your water bottle
  • Prepare to listen and actively participate with the instructor leading the class.
  • After class, spend one hour enjoying a small brunch together

Plan Relating hiking with picnic sounds perfect combination We can plan ahead according to trail condition and weather. Dress accordingly with shoes and sun protection. Water, first-aid kit and phone is required.
Key Benefits Hiking with friends, meet new people, explore scenic views.
Venue There are some great hiking trails listed on google. We can decide at the time of organizing.
